Paris

Paris is full of many interesting creatures to behold. It is too bad that they have to be treated so poorly by whitey.

In Amsterdam

We are now safely lodged in the Amigo hotel in Amsterdam. The hotel is very near central Amsterdam which means that we can walk places even though some of us are not the best walkers in the world. I know when we are near the Amigo when I see the sign that says happy corner. Happy corner is a Chinese resteraunt where we got some food to go which Anja and Sofie liked a lot.
So far, we have gone to the Anne Frank house, The Rijt museum, and the Artis Zoo. Anja and Sofie liked the zoo the best. The zoo dates from the 1800s and is very large. It takes up a big city block and includes a planetariam an aquariam and a geology museum.

In Amsterdam

We landed in Amsterdam on a British Airways flight. When we arrived we didn't know how we were going to get from the airport to our hotel. We ended up taking a cab which I think we were charged almost 20 Euros too much for, it being off the meter an our not agreeing on a price before the ride. Our driver drove like a jerk. He was intimidating the bike riders with his vehicle.
We are staying at the Amigo Hotel, 19 Plantage Kerklaan. We booked our stay over the internet from Janet's house. There is a breakfast served here, but we kind of missed it because we slept until 10:00 and breakfast ended at 10.
Today we are going to make our first task to find a market and get some food. There are a lot of cafes and shops around but no food stores other than a bakery across the street. The bakery is not of much use because Shannon does not eat wheat. I was thinking of going into the bakery and asking if they had some non wheat bread.

Luddington

In Luddington Michigan. This town seams to be the end of the road if you are heading West. The sun here sets into the lake, and it looks the same as if it were setting into the sea on the west coast of California. To me it is strange just how much like a ocean the Great Lakes are. There are sea birds: colmerants and gulls. There are also a lot of Salmon. I think I read that the salmon are not native to the lakes, but there is a big salmon fishery now. Anyway, the lakes are just like the ocean, but the water is fresh.
